The Resilience Programme
To Parents/ Guardians,
We are Call of the Wild Development Trust, a charity based in Seven Sisters. We have already worked with over 1,000 children in 28 local schools and child services.
We have been lucky enough to receive funding to offer the year 5/6 pupils at Creunant Primary our Resilience Programme free of charge and will be visiting the school between the 24th-28th of November to work with your child’s class.
This is just some information for you to know how the week will go.
Our 5-day Resilience Programme includes :
• Daily Outdoor Team Tasks to encourage teamwork, improve problem solving and communication skills based in school grounds.
• One offsite adventure activity day on the Thursday including climbing at Dinas Rock in Glynneath and hill walking in Abercrave. We include minibus transport.
• We introduce coping skills with review and discussion sessions to help with future challenges.
• Discussions on life aspirations and positive role models.
• Presentations, creative sessions and performances to build confidence.
• They will complete a Mental Toughness Assessment at the start and end of the programme, so we can measure impact. We find an average of 68% increase their mental toughness scores in just 5 days with us.
We use qualified instructing staff from our business, Call of the Wild Development Ltd, who are all fully trained and have safeguarding training and a DBS.
What do we need from you?
Next term, the school will send home one of our med forms. Could you please complete it and sign it, then send it back to school.
What does your child need?
We will send a suggested kit list to school, but the children just need outdoor clothes to keep them warm and dry, with wellies or walking boots for the hike and trainers or walking boots for the climbing. They will also need a day bag with a packed lunch and drink.
We look forward to our visit in November!
